DESCRIPTION:Everybody knows two works by H. G. Wells. The Time Machine (1895) is widely seen as the first time-travel sci-fi story\, and War of the Worlds (1898) as the first martian invasion story. But these two works are unrepresentative of H. G. Wells's career as a whole\, let alone of his reputation in his lifetime. The presentation will provide a more fully rounded picture of H. G. Wells both as a writer and as a deeply flawed human being.
